PROGRAM
The
SCHS Orchestra is a comprehensive orchestra program that
performs as a string orchestra, small ensembles, and as
full symphony orchestra with selected wind players and percussionists
during the year. The orchestra program is made up of string
players of all grades and abilities. The SCHS Orchestras
regularly perform a challenging repertoire at a superior
level at district music festivals. The Orchestra's success
has earned it invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall (2009),
the Chapman College Orchestra Festival & Workshop, the
International Festival
at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, and the 2005
SCSBOA Fall Conference.
TRAVEL
The Orchestra has performed in New York City, San Francisco,
Orlando-Florida, Seattle, Vancouver, British Columbia and
Sacramento. In addition to the rehearsals and performances
the Orchestra also participates in trips to see professional
orchestras in performance and the Spring Tour that the Instrumental
Music Department takes every other year.
SCHEDULE
The Orchestra's performance schedule begins with the the
Winter Concert in December. During the Spring Semester or
Festival Season, the Orchestra participates in the festival
concert and the District Music Festival. The season winds
down with the Spring Pops Concert concert in May, ending
with the Symphony Orchestra performing at graduation.
