Travel Policy

MEDICAL RELEASE

A medical release must be signed and on file with the Director or Head Chaperone before any student may travel.  Special health problems should also be noted so that adequate care can be provided when away from home.  Please update during the year if necessary.  Adult supervision is provided on all Orchestra, Band, and Color Guard trips.  The Director and the Capistrano Unified School District are responsible for each student traveling with the group.

TRAVELING TO AND FROM AN EVENT

Students traveling to an event with a musical or pageantry ensemble must return in the same manner, with the following exceptions: (1) A student may return with their own parents or guardian if a note has been given to the Director, in advance, or if a parent is present to relieve the District of all responsibility, or (2) a student may ride home from a music event with another parent if a request for permission has been received in writing.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

The Director and TMAC organization and its members assume no responsibility for any personal items lost or stolen.  Make sure you leave expensive and irreplaceable items at home.  It is suggested that valuables be left at home.

BUSES

Buses are to be clean and free of trash at the end of all trips.  Student leaders will monitor the cleaning of the buses if necessary, and students may be required to help clean the bus if it does not meet CUSD standards at the end of a trip.

TRAILER

Students are responsible for loading and unloading their own instrument, personal belongings, and equipment before and after all events.

ITINERARIES / CALENDARS

Travel itinerates and other information is available online at www.TritonMusic.org.  Visit the calendar page to select the event to read or print the information.  Itineraries are updated as soon as the information is available, which can be only 3-4 days prior to an event in some cases.  At the conclusion of all events, students should arrange to be picked up at school promptly at the designated pick-up time.

TRAVEL UNIFORM

Every student must meet the school dress code and special instructions for travel events.  The marching band, for example,  wears the "show shirt" to events.  Other ensembles may have different requirements each year.  It is the student's responsibility to see that their travel clothes remain in excellent condition.  Often students are already in their performance clothes when traveling.  Again, dressing properly (professionally) is required, and members may not travel half dressed.
