INTRODUCTION

Flamenco and Hindustani classical music are two musical styles that originate from Middle Eastern folk music. While both pieces utilize plucked string instruments, there exists a much more fundamental connection between the two styles—the mastery over improvised rhythm. This allowed these two styles to gain global fame in an age where traditions are no longer barricaded by geographical boundaries.
