  "Bohemian Rhapsody" by QUEEN

This song clearly is and accurate representative of the Rock Culture in the 1970s through its style and the fact that QUEEN was one of the most influential rock bands of the time. It is believed that the lyrics depict the events up to an execution, perhaps gaining inspiration from Albert Camus’s novel The Stranger. On the intro the vocals start in a harmony of B flat. The intro ends with the chromatic changing of the lyrics “easy come, easy go”. The Ballad start with a grand piano and an intro from the lead guitar. The bass guitar follows in chromatically for E flat. Many rock songs were lead by a piano or saxophone, or eventually a guitar. Throughout the piece, either the piano or the electric guitar lead the band. Towards the middle of the piece the members sing in somewhat of a canon. They go back and forth repeating the phrase “Galileo” at different pitches and each member hitting on a distinct chord.
