Comparison/ Conclusion
Surprisingly, these pieces are very similar. Who would have thought a song sung in Spanish and another sung about “hillbillies” could have anything in common? Both are based around simplicity, being structured off of the simplest form there is, A B A B. To add, the instrumentation is very similar, both containing basses, violins, and guitars. Moreover, the lyrics are made to please the audience and have a fun time. In a nut shell, both songs reflect love, happiness and day-to-day life. The musicians sing and play music that their audiences can relate to by way of entertaining them with catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics. “Uncle Penn” and “Nochecitas Mexicanas” may have originated in two different parts of the world, but the “hominess” of the two songs brings much fun and joy to all who listen.
