SAMPLE ITINERARY

 

Day 1 - LA - Hawaii

 

Arrive Los Angeles airport for flight check-in

You will be met at the gate and escorted through baggage claim, where you will be presented with the traditional flower lei “Greeting of Aloha”. Board your bus for the short ride into Waikiki.

Hotel check-in. Please meet in the lobby for key distribution and security briefing.

Dinner on your own, evening free

Day 2 - Hawaii

 

6:00am Buffet breakfast at Perry’s Smorgy. Morning at leisure.

6:45am Bus departs hotel for Pearl Harbor and the City of Honolulu tour. While at Pearl Harbor you will visit the USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri (performance opportunity).

On the Honolulu City tour you will see Iolani Palace (the only royal palace on US soil), the famous statue of King Kamehameha, the Capital Building, Chinatown and other places of historical interest in Honolulu.

1:30pm Return to hotel, lunch on your own, afternoon free.

5:30pm Dinner on your own this evening

8:30pm Director’s meeting and reception at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Day 3 - Hawaii

 

7:00am Depart hotel lobby for breakfast at Perry’s.

Free day, lunch on your own.

5:00pm Depart for luau at Paradise Cove.

Day 4 - Hawaii

 

7:30am Buffet breakfast at Perry’s.

Competition begins at the Waikiki Shell & Kapiolani Bandstand. Your instruments will arrive at the park at 8:00am. Participants will be walking to/from the hotel and Kapiolani Park. The Wind Ensemble and the Jazz Band will perform today if enough students are in marching band.

1:00pm Hawaii Invitational Pizza in the park for lunch today during competition.

5:30pm Dinner on your own.

Day 5 - Hawaii

 

8:00am Buffet breakfast at Perry’s. Morning free, lunch on your own.

Catamaran rides this morning – beach time.

4:45pm Bus departs hotel for parade line-up at 6:00pm. Parade steps off at 6:30pm on Kalakaua Avenue at Ft. DeRussy, ending at Kapiolani Park, where your bus & instrument truck will be waiting to return you to the hotel (approximately 7:30pm). Please note: Only students/adults marching in the parade will board the bus. Spectators should walk to the viewing area on Kalakaua Avenue in front of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

8:00pm Dinner on your own.

Day 6 - Hawaii

 

7:45am Buffet breakfast at Perry’s.

Morning free, lunch on your own.

12:30pm Load instrument truck for final competitions.

1:30pm Bus departs hotel for Kamehameha Schools and the final competitons, dinner, exhibition, awards ceremony and dance. Winterguard, drum lines, drill teams and field bands will perform today. Late return to hotel, approximate departure time from Kamehameha is 10:45pm)

Day 7 - Hawaii - LA

 

7:45am Buffet breakfast at Perry’s.

10:00am Check-out of the hotel. Please return keys and pay for any incidentals you may have.

Report any damage to the front desk prior to departure.

10:30am Bus departs for Honolulu Airport.

Scheduled departure for Los Angeles
